Description:
"East of Nowhere" began in mid-2003 under the original name of “CrawDaddy”. but when it was realized that there was another band in the area with a very similar name, “CrawDaddy” was scratched and “East of Nowhere” was adopted. Jason Crawford and Martyn Deady met while performing in “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!” at a local community theater called Generations Theater, of which Jason Crawford is a founding member while Crawford played the role of “Charlie Brown” and Deady played the roll of Charlie’s ever-faithful dog, “Snoopy.”

In the fall of 2003, Jason remembered his old friend Ryan Peters. Luckily, for Jason, Ryan had just recently departed from a local band and had some free time so he decided to collaborate with Crawford and Deady, thus, forming the core members of East of Nowhere. That same winter, Jason also remembered Vern Winter, an old friend with whom he had done a local theater production Though Vern never took the stage in these productions, he and his guitar were always a fixture and featured member in the pit orchestra. The four began practicing (and almost freezing) in Ryan’s boathouse / rehearsal hall, and they clicked instantly. In January of 2003, East of Nowhere completed their first demo with Ground Zero Productions and have had great feedback from those who have the opportunity to hear it.

March 2004, The Band decides it time to give up the trusty bass player, Mr. Midi, and get a new member. In enters Rob Jacobs, A transplanted Southerner from Atlanta, GA. His bass lines added new demison to the sound, and he took his place the band.

East of Nowhere's unique style has elements of classic rock, modern rock, 80’s rock, and pop. They’re not too hard but they’re definitely not too soft. They concentrate on the vocal harmonies between Crawford and Deady, performing both original songs (composed by Jason Crawford and Martyn Deady) as well as familiar covers of current and classic tunes. All five are proud to be Baltimore natives... save one who is proud to be a Southern xpat. to Maryland.

Band Members:
Jason Crawford (Vocals & Keyboards) Jason is a 23-year-old native Baltimorean, started his music career on the theater stage, performing in local dinner and community theaters. Though he had a love for the theater, as well as a great deal of respect, he figured out, recently, that he was a musician, first and foremost. He received a Bachelor’s degree in English as well as a Master’s degree in English from Towson University. Somewhat recently, he decided it was time to try to take a stroll down the road of rock and roll. He is a founding member of Generations Theater in Baltimore, Maryland and this is where he met Martyn Deady. In mid 2003, they formed East of Nowhere after performing together in "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown" (Jason played Charlie Brown and Martyn played Snoopy). He’s been writing songs since he was 10 years old and plays (though maybe not proficiently, but enough to get by) the piano.

Martyn Deady (Vocals) Martyn is 21-years-old and was born and raised in Baltimore. He is a manager with Bally’s Total Fitness, as well as a part time nursing student at Towson University. He started his performing career on the stage, performing in many community theater productions such as "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!", where he first met Jason Crawford and began performing with him. Martyn also had a stint as a professional wrestler with Maryland Championship Wrestling. His claim to fame (thus far) was actually wrestling in a WWE televised match in 2001.

Ryan Peters (Drums) Ryan is the youngest and most fragile member of EON. He enjoys long walks to ice cream stands and romantic drives to Pep Boys. He has been playing for about 8 years now and his first drumset consisted of a snare, snare drum case (bass drum) and an Erector set pedal he made with a sock taped around the beater. It actually worked except the case kept falling over. His only TV experience was during the High School marching band championships where his band was the only one of the 20-some bands with a drumset player in the pit. Oddly enough, he had almost half the air-time from that performance. He also design websites.

Vern Winter (Guitar) Vern is the eldest, but young-at-heart member of East of Nowhere, has performed with many and various bands throughout the years and specializes in classic rock guitar. He’s been playing since his teens and brings an invaluable wisdom to East of Nowhere.

Rob Jacobs (Bass Guitar) Rob is the newest member of the band. He is from Atlanta, GA. Rob has played in various bands over the years. Rob's biggest influence is Donald "duck" Dunn. He also has many other influences past and present. Rob has worked in the IT Field since 1998. He is an MCSE. In the early 90's He attended the Art Institute of Atlanta. He studied Music Entertainment Management with a focus on Audio and Video Production. Rob also worked in television as Master Control Engineer through out the 90's.
