Description:
shim-mer 1 : to shine with a soft tremulous or fitful light 2 : to reflect a wavering sometimes distorted visual image
un-der-tow 1 : the current beneath the surface that sets seaward or along the beach when waves are breaking upon the shore 2 : an underlying current, force, or tendency that is in opposition to what is apparent
Music is an ocean, vast and limitless. Always in motion, always changing. Sounds flowing in currents, building in waves and crashing in rhythmic sequence. Bright and sparkling on the surface, its most treasured secrets lie in the more remote corners of unexplored territory. The further in you go, the deeper it gets...
Shimmering Undertow is a 3-piece all original rock band from New Hampshire. The band's sound is moody and dynamic - sometimes heavy, sometimes mellow - but always melodic. Progressive in spirit, but not to the point of excess, the music balances adventurous time and tempo changes alongside a striking sense of clarity and simplicity.
Drawing from a diverse array of musical influences, each member brings his own musical style to the table. The result is an intriguing mix of melodic rock, folk, metal and progressive rock that blends together to form a band sound that is as cohesive as it is unique.
The band has been together in its current configuration since September 2002, and has played around the Manchester area at venues including the Bombshelter, the Uptown Tavern, Crofter's Pub, O'Donnells Irish Tavern and the Workmen's Club. With over two hours worth of original material under their belt, the band is currently seeking gigs for the spring, summer and beyond.
Music is an ocean - deep, dark and infinite. Dive in...
