Description:
Rustcycle is a blend of instrumental guitar which may remind you of Satriani, industrial music that may remind you of NIN, and ambient electronica passages that may remind you of Moby. Add in a touch of violin and viola for a soundscape which is truly unique.
Adrian Johnson is the musician behind Rustcycle. Where some electronica artists are only knob- tweakers, or are self declared "musicians" who are armed only with looping tools, Johnson is skilled at 3 instruments and arrangement, and it shows. Of course, having good guitar / violin / viola chops doesn't keep Johnson from keeping up with circuitry tricks. One of his tracks is featured by Sherman Electronics to promote their Filterbank 2 analog filter device.
Rustcycle was a 2003 Independent Music Awards finalist. The track Anti-Gravity was in the top 5 songs in the contest's electronica category. The judges for the 2003 IMAs were Steve Vai, Lou Reed, DJ Spooky, Joan Baez, Mavis Staples, Mickey Hart, Amy Ray, Ray Davies, Wendy Waldman, and Hank Shocklee.
Does a particular Rustcycle track sound familiar? You may have heard some of Johnson's tracks licensed for use in commercials, web sites, and video games. If you listen to XM Satellite Radio, you can hear Rustcycle on channel 52 (indie / unsigned channel).
Look for information on the Rustcycle visual projects at the official rustcycle site, http:// www.rustcycle.com - Johnson is a graphics programmer and a whole new style of triggered visuals is being created for his live shows
