Description:
The Silverback Blues Burners is an electric blues/rock band based in Richmond, Virginia. The band was started in 2002 by our harmonica player, Dave Cox, and guitarist, Jim McCauley. The band features two guitarists, (Jim McCauley and Tom Vandewalle), a bassist (Marty Schwab), a drummer (Miles Johnston), a keyboard player (Dick Phillips), a saxophonist (Orville Jenkins) and, of course, a harmonica player (Dave Cox). Although the band covers the well-recognized classic blues of Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James, T. Bone Walker, Junior Wells,Little Walter, etc., we also play some more modern pieces in the style of the Allman Brothers, B.B. King, Boneshakers,Nighthawks, Yardbirds, Cream, J. Geils Band, Doors, ZZ Top, Rolling Stones and Bonnie Raitt. We have our own songs as well. We have an extensive cover list for classic rock. The band is ideal for dances, weddings, social events as well as clubs and bars.
Band Members:
All of the band members are experienced professional musicians and have played in and out of bands throughout our lives. Our harmonica player, Dave Cox, a recruiter, is a gifted musician and one of the best blues harp players around. Jim McCauley, a lawyer, 50, has been playing guitar, solo and in bands, continuously since he was 13. Dick Phillips, a retired Phillip Morris executive, has played keyboards in dance bands in the Richmond area. Marty Schwab, bassist, Miles Johnston, drummer and Tom Vandewalle, guitarist have played with other local bands as well. Our saxaphonist, Orville Jenkins, smoothes out and enriches the band's sound.
